Collectibles: Preserving Stories That Matter

A lifelong sports fan and collector, Caleb views collectibles as more than memorabilia — they’re time capsules of culture, fandom, and identity. His passion for baseball cards and sports collectibles is deeply connected to his teaching and consulting, as he uses them to illustrate lessons about:

  • Legacy & Memory – How items can capture stories and preserve them for future generations.

  • Value & Identity – The way collectibles reflect personal meaning and cultural significance.

  • Connection – How memorabilia builds bridges between fans, families, and communities.

Caleb often draws parallels between collectibles and careers: just as a rare card tells a story beyond its stats, an athlete or professional’s journey holds value beyond their role.

THE MEZZY ATHLETE CAREER TRANSITION (MACT) MODEL

Our research shows that athletes who have a plan are significantly more fulfilled in life after their sport. We specialize in guiding athletes at every stage of the journey, whether you have been out of the game for years, are just starting out or you’re at the top of your game.

The transition process is much like an at-bat.

  • We’ll work together to determine the key personal factors that go into your career transition.

  • We’ll assess the strengths, weaknesses, and transferable skills that are unique to your transition.

  • Strategies are factored in once personal and professional factors are established.

  • Establish the team support needed to make your transition successful.

“Consulting allows me to guide people in shaping their future. Collectibles remind us of where we’ve been. And career transition planning bridges the two — it’s about taking your story with you as you step into the next chapter.” — Dr. Caleb Mezzy
